Zara Cave Fungal Analysis and Investigation for White Nose Syndrome Featured in DOD 'Natural Selections'

The Department of Defense (DOD) recently published an article by Zara Biologist, Barrett Clark, in its Natural Selections newsletter. The investigation furthers the DOD's mission of maintaining operational readiness while preserving important natural resources on DOD lands. The investigation took place on Fort Hood in central Texas, and is intended to help develop early detection protocols through environmental sampling for Pseudogymnoascus destructans (Pd), the pathogenic fungus that causes White Nose Syndrome in bats.
