Liza Colucci
Project Manager & Ecologist
Liza holds a Master’s of Science degree in Environmental Sciences from University of New Haven, Connecticut, and a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology and Environmental Chemistry from Roger Williams University, Rhode Island. Liza has a decade of experience working with endangered species in central Texas as a conservation biologist with the City of Austin. She has extensive experience monitoring Eurycea salamander species, restoring endangered species habitats, and monitoring ecosystem health. Liza’s experience includes developing habitat conservation plans, biological assessments, and research projects with endangered species. She is also familiar with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Army Corps of Engineers consultations. Liza has overseen compliance of federal and state permits and been onsite for numerous construction and maintenance projects in federally protected habitat. She has widespread familiarity with project management. In 2016, along with other members of the City of Austin Watershed Protection Department, Liza received the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Recovery Champion Award for her work with Eurycea sosorum (Barton Springs salamander) and Eurycea waterlooensis (Austin blind salamander). In addition, Liza is a certified Advanced Open Water SCUBA Diver with experience monitoring Eurycea sp. and freshwater mussels, and conducting habitat maintenance and restoration.
